Here at Five Boroughs Apps we are not interested in legal terms and fancy jargon, so we will keep this as simple as we can:
The NYC ASP app has no accounts and no sign-up. We do not collect your name, email address or any other contact details, and we do not use advertising or tracking of any kind.
What stays on your device
The addresses you save, their labels, your reminder times and any reminders you skip are stored only on your device. They are never sent to us to keep. Your regular street-cleaning reminders are scheduled by the app on your device.
Address lookups
When you search for an address, it is sent to our server so we can find the parking sign and schedule for that street. To do this, our server passes the address to a mapping service (Google) to turn it into a map location. We answer the lookup straight away and do not store the address.
Your location
Location is optional. If you choose to use it when adding an address, the app takes a single location reading and uses Apple's mapping service to work out which street you are on, so you only need to type your house number. We do not track your location, and we do not store it. You can always type your address instead.
Suspension notifications
If you allow notifications, we send you a notice when Alternate Side Parking is suspended. To do that, our server keeps one thing about your device: the notification token Apple gives the app, alongside the parking sign or signs for the addresses you saved. A sign covers a stretch of a street, not your exact address. We do not keep your address, your location, your reminder times or any other device identifier with it.
This is removed when you delete an address in the app, and once Apple tells us the token is no longer in use, for example after you delete the app.
Purchases
The free trial and the one-time purchase are handled on your device and by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, and our server keeps no record of who has purchased.
Statistics
We keep simple overall counts to keep the service running well, such as how many devices receive notifications and how many notices were sent. These are totals only and are not linked to you or your device.
